Book review: A Court of Mist and Fury
(English)
We are both finally done with, A Court of Mist and Fury, the second book in the ACOTAR series and this one managed to excel our expections for everything!
As usual be mindful that there are spoilers ahead so if you are planning on reading this series, skip our post or of you read the first one, check our review in here.
The story continues with Feyre now living at the Spring Court as High Fae. The power of the seven High Lords brought her back so that she and Tamlim could be together but things are not going as well as one might be expecting.
Feyre never felt physically more powerful and resistant and yet, Tamlin undermines her new body, hopping to keep her from going out and persusading her to stay close to the Mansion. Feyre obbeys at first, trying to focus on her upcoming wedding but even that event seems uninteresting to her.
However, the day comes and Feyre is getting second thoughts but she as no need to make them known on her way down the aisle because Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court comes for what is own to him, one week of Feyre in the Night Court every single month.
Furious with his interference, Feyre and him argue but she agrees to stay for one week and when the next comes she goes without a fight.
Until one day, where she begs Tamlin to take her with him and to not leave her alone in that house.
Tamlin locks her up and Feyre starts to panic, making Rhysand realize that she is afraid. He and Morrigan, his cousin and third in command, manage to get her out and Feyre is relieved to find herself in the beautiful Night Court Palace once more.
Rhysand tells her to rest and to nor worry for now but a choice must be made. Will she go back to the Spring Court and risk being locked up again or will she stay at the Night Court and leave Tamlin behind forever?
So, ACOMAF might be one of our favourites of the year so far. The story is much more fast paced than ACOTAR at the beginning making it absolutely adicting and unable to stop. You just want to know what happens next! 5 ⭐!
Plus, some of the quotes are absolutely iconic and beautiful. Here are some of our favourites:
To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys."
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.
He thinks he'll be remembered as the villain in the story. But I forgot to tell him that the villain is usually the person who locks up the maiden and throws away the key. He was the one who let me out.
And I realized—I realized how badly I'd been treated before, if my standards had become so low. If the freedom I'd been granted felt like a privilege and not an inherent right
I was his and he was mine, and we were the beginning and middle and end. We were a song that had been sung from the very first ember of light in the world.
I want you to know … ” His lips trembled, and I brushed away the tear that escaped down his cheek. “I want you to know,” I whispered, “that I am broken and healing, but every piece of my heart belongs to you.
