    There is nothing like a suspenseful thriller. The story follows our protagonist's, Erika, return to her hometown of Fjällbacka in Sweden. Her life has been marked by tragedy, having lost both her parents, and it doesn't look like things are going to get better any time soon with the recent discovery of her childhood best friend's body, Alex. Everything seems to point to suicide, but is it? The police are investigating and Erika won't rest until she gets answers either.

    The book is incredibly atmospheric and builds a feeling of despair based of the landscape and the relationships between the families and inhabitants of Fjällbacka. The writer, Camilla Läckberg, is already considered the new Queen of Crime in Europe, with her work being compared to that of a modern Agatha Christie.

💀 The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

    When Cormoran Strike, a lonely private detective and former veteran, is contacted to investigate the death of Lula, a young model with a troubled background, the case had already been exposed in the media months before as an accident or suicide. Although, Strike needs the money so he agrees to investigate with the help of his secretary, Robin. But Lula's story, which seemed so simple at first, becomes increasingly dark and disturbing...

    Written under an alias by author J.K. Rowling, this book has an extremely interesting plot with a modern and emotionally complex main character and will keep any crime fan hooked from start to finish.

💀 Marrow by Tarryn Fisher

    Get ready for a book that will make you question every single page! Margo is a girl who lives in a place where despair is tangible. The rotting house she shares with her horrible mother is in the Bone neighbourhood. The Bone is dangerous and not even the most innocent are spared from its evil. Not even a child is safe. But the dark side of the Bone takes hold of Margo too, and even though she's on the side of the good guys, some paths could cause her to lose her soul... 

    Written by the incredible Tarryn Fisher, this book messes with your head from start to finish and allows you to realise the author's level of intelligence and psychological assessment in creating a character as questionable as Margo.

💀 Joyland by Stephen King

    We couldn't miss including a recommendation from the King of Horror himself, Stephen King. Joyland is supposed to be a fun place, a refuge, an escape from everyday life. And that's exactly what Devin is looking for. A place where he can work through his heartbreak. But Joyland is hiding something. A ghost. A poor girl killed a few years ago in the neighbourhood. And a murderer may still be among them. Closer than they realise!

    Despite being one of King's least recognised works, this is undoubtedly one of his hidden gems. A quick read that will leave any fan of the Stranger Things series intrigued by the premise!

💀 There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

    The students of Osborne High School are in danger! Someone is committing the most gruesome murders and the number of victims keeps rising. For Makani Young, a newcomer to the Nebraska town from Hawaii, it's not the easiest adjustment, but she didn't expect to have to deal with a killer. When Makani becomes one of his targets, a pattern in the choice of victims begins to emerge...

    Best known for the Anna and the French Kiss trilogy, Stephanie Perkins has given us a taste of what she's capable of when she doesn't focus on the fluffy side of life, and it's a good thing she did, because this book gave us goosebumps from start to finish.

    Escrito pela incrível Tarryn Fisher, este livro mexe com a nossa cabeça do início ao fim e permite-nos perceber o nível de inteligência e avaliação psicológica da autora para a criação de uma personagem tão questionável como a Margo.

💀 Bem-vindos a Joyland do Stephen King

    Não podia faltar uma recomendação do rei do horror, Stephen King. Joyland é suposto ser um sítio divertido, um refúgio, uma escapatória do dia-a-dia. É exatamente isso que Devin procura. Um local onde possa trabalhar e superar um desgosto. Mas Joyland esconde um algo. Um fantasma. Uma pobre rapariga morta há poucos anos nas suas imediações. E um assassino pode ainda estar entre eles. Mais perto do que imaginam!

    Ainda que um dos trabalhos de King com menos reconhecimento, este é sem dúvida uma das sua joias escondidas. Uma leitura rápida e que deixará qualquer fã da série Stranger Things intrigado com a premissa!
