❄️Book recommendations for winter ❄️

    Hello, everyone!😊 Christmas is over and we're officially in the new year! We've officially passed the festive time and now only have winter days ahead of us! However, we don't think there's a better season for slowing down and enjoying the little things in life in the comfort of your own home. It's a perfect time to enjoy cosy things 🥰. There's nothing better than enjoying a cold, rainy afternoon at home, wrapped up in a warm blanket, with a good book in hand and a hot chocolate in the other. To help you out, we've put together a list of books that are perfect for reading during the winter times. We hope you enjoy them! 📚❄️ 

    ❄️ Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater - 1st book in The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. The story is told from the perspectives of Grace, a teenager who has been attacked by wolves, and Sam, a werewolf. Each chapter is labelled with the narrator's name and the temperature, as the werewolf's state of transformation depends on the weather;

    ❄️ Frostbite by Richelle Mead - 2nd book in the Vampire Academy series. In order not to give away any spoilers, we can give you a brief summary of the first book. The story centres on a Dhampir, Rose, and her best friend and Moroi princess, Lisa. Rose's task is to guard and protect Lisa from a third species of vampire, the Strigoi, malevolent beings bent on killing everyone and everything. The two seem to be safe within the walls of St Vladimir's Academy, but appearances can be deceiving and the danger may be getting closer;

    ❄️ Scarlet Letters by Anne Bishop - 1st book in The Others series. In this world, the Others are supernatural beings who dominate the Earth and in which humans are prey. The protagonist, Meg, belongs to a special species, the blood prophetesses who have visions of the future whenever their skin is cut. Meg is held captive so that someone can use her to know the future and when she escapes, she finds refuge in the Lakeside Courtyard, an area controlled by the Others;

    ❄️ Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas - the events of this novella take place after the end of Court of Wings and Ruin. Our characters are finally returning to normality little by little. The Winter Solstice is approaching and with it a celebration that will bring everyone together. However, each character is still dealing with the horrors and traumas they've experienced over the last few months and a lot has changed;

    ❄️ Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling - 4th book in the Harry Potter series follows Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But this year is different! Hogwarts is hosting the Triwizard Tournament and students from other schools, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang, are attending. The tournament hasn't been held for centuries due to its risks and all safety measures are taken, including a 17-year age limit as the minimum age to compete. Mysteriously, Harry is chosen by the Goblet of Fire and forced to compete. The book includes the iconic Winter Ball scene that will amuse any fan;

    ❄️ Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - this classic novel tells the story of four sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, who grow up together during the American Civil War. The book explores the relationship between the sisters and their mother, their father's absence during the war, their completely divergent personalities and how they deal with their daily lives and obstacles. This book is inspired by the author herself, who identifies a lot with Jo March, and also grew up with 3 sisters, each of whom was the basis of the author's inspiration for one of the other March sisters. The book is marvellous, with beautiful prose and simply heart-warming.

    Olá a todos!😊 O Natal já passou e estamos no novo ano! Passamos oficialmente a fase das festas e estamos agora apenas com dias de inverno à nossa frente! Contudo, não nos parece que haja  uma estação melhor para desacelerar e a apreciar as pequenas coisas da vida no conforto da nossa casa. É um momento perfeito para desfrutar de coisas aconchegantes 🥰. A protagonista, Meg, pertence a uma espécie especial, as profetisas de sangue que têm visões do futuro sempre que sua pele é cortada. Meg é mantida em cativeiro para que alguém a use para saber o futuro e quando escapa, encontra refúgio no Pátio de Lakeside, uma zona controlada pelos Outros;

 ❄️ Corte de Gelo e Estrelas da Sarah J. Maas - os acontecimentos desta novella ocorrem após o final de Corte de Asas e Ruínas. As nossas personagens estão finalmente a regressar à normalidade pouco a pouco. O Solstício de Inverno está próximo e, com isso, aproxima-se uma celebração que irá reunir todos. No entanto, cada personagem ainda lida com os horrores e traumas que viveu nos últimos meses e muita coisa mudou;

    ❄️ Harry Potter e o Cálice de Fogo da J.K. Rowling - 4º livro da saga Harry Potter segue o quarto ano de Harry na Escola de Magia e Feitiçaria de Hogwarts. Mas este ano é diferente! Hogwarts recebe o Torneiro dos Três Feiticeiros e conta com a presenta de alunos de outras escolas, Beauxbatons e Durmstrang. O torneiro não é realizado há séculos devido aos seus riscos e todas as medidas de segurança são tomadas, inclusive um limite de 17 anos como a idade mínima para competir. Misteriosamente, Harry é escolhido pelo Cálice de Fogo e forçado a competir. O livro conta com a icónica cena do Baile de Inverno que deixará qualquer fã divertidíssimo;

    ❄️ Mulherzinhas da Louisa May Alcott - este romance é um clássico que conta a história de quatro irmãs, Meg, Jo, Beth e Amy, que crescem juntas durante a Guerra Civil Americana. O livro explora as relações entre as irmãs e a sua mãe, a ausência do pai na guerra, as suas personalidades completamente divergentes e de que forma é que elas lidam com o seu dia a dia e os seus obstáculos. Este livro é inspirado na própria autora, que se identifica muito com a Jo March e cresceu também com 3 irmãs, cada uma delas, a base da inspiração da autora para uma das restantes irmãs March. O livro é maravilhoso, com uma prosa lindíssima e simplesmente enternecedor.
