    Hello everyone! Today we have a slightly different post than usual. We were searching for book recommendations and stumbled across Ellyn's blog and came across one of her tags. So, we started reading it and ended up discussing our own answers a bit and thought: "why not answer it on our blog, so you can get an idea of our recommendations too?". So here's our take on the Ultimate Recommendation Book Tag.

Recommend a book from one of your favourite genres

    We think there's no easier way to answer this question than to recommend Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, by J.K. Rowling. There are lots of books we could recommend, but this one is the easiest, because there is no age limit for reading this book! It doesn't matter if you're a parent reading to a five-year-old or an older person... This book is like a cosy hug 🤗 when you're introduced to the wizarding world and it's full of messages about good and evil, friendship, love and loyalty. It's worth it whether you're already a reader and haven't read it before and, if you haven't read it before, there's no easier way to get into the habit of reading more.

Recommend a short book

    The Killings at Badger's Drift by Caroline Graham. The book is only 312 pages long and the plot moves along at a fast pace. When an old lady dies in Badger's Drift, a typical English village where everyone knows each other, her best friend doesn't believe it was from natural causes. Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby and Sergeant Troy have no choice but to investigate on the basis of the heartbroken lady's suspicions. Badger's Drift soon turns out to be darker than it seems. Secrets and intrigues come to light and Barnaby is increasingly frightened by the direction the investigation is taking. Unfortunately, a second person will be murdered in the most grotesque way and our inspector has no time to lose. There's no simpler narrative to intrigue the curious! 🔎

Recommend a book-to-screen adaptation

    Without a doubt, The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Of course, there are other adaptations that are marvellous in their own way, such as Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, the Twilight series, among others. However, I think most of us would agree that the trilogy has not only remained extremely faithful to the books, but has also fulfilled the dream of many readers by being one of the longest film adaptations ever made! How many times have we not thought that the 1 hour and 30 minute film would have to be 4 or 5 hours long in order to bring it all to the big screen? That said, I think you only have to look at the length of The Return of the King to see all our literary dreams more than realised hahaha🤭.

Recommend a book out of you comfort zone

    The Book Thief by Markus Suzak. This book was only read because of an English exam coming up and the need to learn more English vocabulary, and the book seemed accessible enough despite being outside our usual bubble. Best decision ever! The book is written from the perspective of death, which visits our protagonist three times during her life.

Recommend a book series

    Only one is difficult... But let's recommend The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzzanne Collins. These books marked the childhood and adolescence of many of us, but they still have a very relevant story. More than ever, we need the messages that this book gave to the younger generation a few years ago to give us hope and courage ❤️.

Recommend a standalone

    Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. The way this book distorts reality for the reader is something that deserves to be experienced by any thriller lover. We'd just like to warn you to avoid taking public transport when you read it, because one of us even missed the stop they were supposed to get off at, because they were involved in the story...(hehehe🤭)

Recommend a book you don't talk about enough

    There's no turning back here. In our opinion, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is an amazing book that is chronically underrated. This 6-book series is packed with action, romance, drama and themes such as politics and loyalty.

Recommend your 'staple' book

    Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. Anna, an American girl, moves to a school in Paris where she falls in love with a boy, Étienne St. Clair. It doesn't get any simpler than this, but you won't regret picking this one up 🥰.

Recommend the book(s) that got you into reading

    We'll have to make a list: the Harry Potter seriess, Vampire Academy series, Shadow and Bone trilogy; collections like Geronimo Stilton, Diary of  Wimpy Kid... There are loads! We could stay here all day hahaha 😅🤭.

    Olá pessoal! Hoje trazemos um post ligeiramente diferente do normal. Andamos a pesquisar recomendações de livros e tropeçamos no blog da Ellyn. E deparamo-nos com uma das tags dela. Começamos a ler e acabamos a discutir um pouco das nossas próprias respostas e pensamos: "porque não responder no nosso blog, para que possam ter umas ideias também das nossas recomendações?". Então cá está a nossa abordagem ao Ultimate Recommendation Book Tag.

Recomendar um livro de um dos teus géneros favoritos

    Achamos que não há forma mais fácil de responder a esta pergunta do que recomendar o livro Harry Potter e a Pedra Filosofal da J.K. Rowling. Existem imensos livros que poderíamos recomendar, mas este é de facto a recomendação que mais facilmente damos, porque não existe limite de idade para ler este livro! Não interessa se são os pais a ler para uma criança de 5 anos ou se é uma pessoa de idade... Este livro é como um abraço aconchegante 🤗, quando somos apresentados ao mundo da magia e está recheado de mensagens sobre o bem e o mal, amizade, amor e lealdade. Vale a pena quer já sejam leitores e nunca o tenham lido e, se nunca o leram, não há forma mais fácil de serem cativados pelo hábito da leitura.

Recomendar um livro curto

    Morte na Aldeia da Caroline Graham. O livro tem apenas 312 páginas e a trama avança a um ritmo acelerado. Quando uma velhinha morre em Badger’s Drift, uma típica aldeia inglesa onde todos se conhecem, a sua melhor amiga não acredita que tenha sido de causas naturais. O inspetor-chefe Barnaby e o sargento Troy não têm alternativa senão investigar com base nas suspeitas da destroçada senhora. Badger's Drift depressa se revela mais sombria do que aparenta. Segredos e intrigas vêm à tona e Barnaby está cada vez mais assustado com o rumo que a investigação toma. Infelizmente, uma segunda pessoa será assassinada da forma mais grotesca e o nosso inspetor não tem tempo a perder. Não existe narrativa mais simples para intrigar um curioso! 🔎

Recomendar uma adaptação de um livro para o ecrã

    Sem dúvida a trilogia O Senhor dos Anéis. Claro que existem outras adaptações que são maravilhosas à sua maneira como Harry Potter, Jogos da Fome, a saga Twilight, entre outras. Porém, penso que a maioria de nós concorda que a trilogia não só se manteve extremamente fiel aos livros, bem como realizou o sonho de muitos leitores, ao ser uma das adaptações com mais tempo de filme alguma vez feita! Quantas vezes não pensamos que o filme de 1 hora e 30 minutos teria de ter 4 ou 5 horas para passar tudo para o grande ecrã. Dito isto, acho que basta olhar para a duração de O Regresso do Rei para ver todos os nossos sonhos literários mais que realizados hahaha🤭.

Recomendar um livro fora da tua zona de conforto

    A Rapariga que Roubava Livros de Markus Suzak. Esta leitura só aconteceu, porque havia um exame de inglês a caminho e era preciso aprender mais vocabulário em inglês e o livro parecia acessível o suficiente apesar de ser fora da nossa bolha habitual. Melhor decisão de sempre! O livro é escrito da perspetiva da morte que visita a nossa protagonista 3 vezes ao longo da sua vida.

Recomendar uma saga de livros

    Só uma é difícil... Mas vamos recomendar a trilogia Os Jogos da Fome da Suzzanne Collins. Estes livros marcaram a infância e adolescência de muitos de nós, mas ainda têm uma história muito atual. Mais do que nunca precisamos das mensagens que este livro passou à geração mais nova há uns anos que nos dê esperança e coragem ❤️.

Recomendar um livro standalone

    Em Parte Incerta da Gillian Flynn. A forma como este livro distorce a realidade para o leitor é algo que merece ser experienciado por qualquer apreciador de thrillers. Deixamos apenas um aviso de que devem evitar andar em transportes públicos quando o leem, porque um de nós chegou a perder a paragem em que devia sair por estar envolvido na história...(hehehe🤭)

Recomendar um livro de que não se fala o suficiente

    Não há volta a dar aqui. Na nossa opinião Academia de Vampiros da Richelle Mead é um livro espantoso que é cronicamente desvalorizado. Esta saga de 6 livros está repleta de ação, romance, drama e temas como política e lealdade.

Recomendar o teu livro "básico"

    Anna e o beijo francês da Stephanie Perkins. Anna, uma rapariga americana, muda-se para uma escola em Paris onde se encanta por um rapaz, Étienne St. Clair. Mais simples que isto não há, mas não se vão arrepender de pegar neste 🥰.

Recomendar o livro ou livros que nos levaram a ler

    Vamos ter de pôr uma listinha: a saga Harry Potter, a saga Academia de Vampiros, a trilogia Luz e Sombra; coleções como Geronimo Stilton, Diário de um Banana... Há imensos! Podíamos ficar aqui o dia todo 😅🤭.
