🏰 Great historical fiction/fantasy books 🏰

    Welcome to another post!🤗 How have you been? Are you taking care of yourselves? Taking time out to do what you love and relax?😌 Around here we wanted to plan another recommendation for you and after a few days of brainstorming, here we are! This week's theme is historical fiction/fantasy. 

    Are you ready? Let's get started!

🏰 Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare - the first book in the trilogy takes place during the reign of Queen Victoria and begins with a girl arriving at London to reunite with her brother. Tessa doesn't know anyone and is immediately kidnapped by two women who call themselves the Dark Sisters. During her captivity, Tessa realises that she is not a normal young woman and that she possesses the ability to take on the appearance of another person. Her captivity is ended by the intervention of Shadowhunters, warriors who keep the supernatural underworld in order and eliminate demons. Tessa takes refuge among them, at the London Institute, where they promise her that they will do everything they can to locate her brother, with a request that she uses her gift to help them in the face of what seems to be a huge conspiracy against the Shadowhunters.  

🏰 Dragonfly in amber by Diana Gabaldon - in the second book of the well-known Outlander series, history unfolds in front of our eyes! Claire now has a daughter, Brianna, who is completely unaware of what happened to her mother when she went missing in Scotland. Claire will have to reveal her past and so we can follow what she and Jamie had to go through after their escape. We are immediately transported to the French court, full of intrigue, forbidden and scandalous romances and attempted alliances in the shadows. Claire knows that the task is likely to be fruitless as everything will culminate in the bloody battle of Cullodem, with the defeat of the Scots and the triumph of the English. But that doesn't stop her from trying to rewrite history!

🏰 Belle by Lesley Pearse - Belle is a 15-year-old girl who leads an apparently normal life in London at the beginning of the 20th century. Belle was brought up in a brothel run by her mother. Protected by her and an attentive maid, Belle always believed that the girls had a life of partying and socialising with men for fun. Until the day everything changes and Belle witnesses a man sexually assaulting and murdering one of the girls. From then on, her life goes completely off the rails and Belle finds herself being trained as a courtesan and taken to New Orleans. Although she doesn't think her life is awful, Belle doesn't want to stay that way and wants more than anything to return home and meet the boy she had a crush on as a teenager.

Tessa não conhece ninguém e é imediatamente raptada por 2 mulheres que se intitulam como as Irmãs Escuras. Durante o seu cativeiro, Tessa percebe que não é uma jovem normal e que possui a capacidade de assumir a aparência de outra pessoa. O seu cativeiro termina perante a intervenção dos Caçadores de Sombras, guerreiros que mantém o Mundo à Parte em ordem e que eliminam demónios. Tessa refugia-se no meio deles, no Instituto de Londres, onde lhe prometem que farão de tudo para localizar o irmão dela, com um pedido para que ela use o seu dom para os ajudar perante o que parece ser uma enorme conspiração contra os Caçadores de Sombras.

🏰 A libêlula presa no âmbar da Diana Gabaldon - no segundo livro da conhecida saga Outlander, a história desenrola-se em frente aos nossos olhos! A Claire tem agora uma filha, a Brianna, que desconhece por completo o que aconteceu à sua mãe quando a mesma esteve desaparecida na Escôcia. Claire terá de revelar o seu passado e assim conseguimos acompanhar o que ela e o Jamie tiveram de passar após a sua fuga. Somos imediatamente transportados para a corte francesa, cheia de intrigas, romances proibidos e escandalosos e tentativas de alianças nas sombras. A Claire sabe que a tarefa é provavelmente infrutífera, uma vez que tudo culminará na sangrenta batalha de Cullodem, com a derrota dos escoceses e o triunfo dos ingleses. Mas isso não a impede de tentar reescrever a história!

🏰 Sonhos proibidos da Lesley Pearse - Belle é uma jovem de 15 anos que leva uma vida aparentemente normal em Londres no início do século XX. Belle foi criada num bordel gerido pela sua mãe. Protegida por ela e por uma empregada atenciosa, Belle sempre acreditou que as raparigas tinham uma vida de festas e de conviver com homens por diversão. Até ao dia em que tudo muda e Belle presencia um homem a abusar sexualmente e a assassinar uma das jovens. A partir daí a sua vida descarrila completamente e Belle dá por si a ser treinada como cortesã e levada para Nova Orleães. Ainda que não ache a sua vida horrível, Belle não quer permanecer assim e deseja mais do que tudo voltar para casa e reencontrar o rapaz por quem tinha uma paixão em adolescente.
