(English)

Hello, everyone!๐Ÿค— Welcome to another post! Once again, we're here to add our touch of literary moments to the week of our dear followers! This week, we've decided to talk about books in the dystopia genre. As we are now in our 20s, we like to think that we spent our teenage years in the golden age of this incredible genre, which often relates to what we experience in our world.
Our recommendations include some of what we consider to be the greatest "classics" of dystopia and are great to read at any time of life. Whether you're an adult or a teenager, if you've never picked up these books, it's the perfect time to do so!

๐Ÿงช The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins - it wasn't possible for the first book in the most iconic dystopian trilogy not to be on this list. With a premise that still fits today and makes us reflect on how easy it is to fall into a totalitarian regime, The Hunger Games marked a generation and remains as relevant as ever. The story centres on Katniss Everdeen, a young girl who lives in Panem, the nation that was born after the fall of North America. Panem is divided into Districts, each responsible for making a sector work. In this world, the Districts rebelled against the Capitol and after their defeat, those in power found a way to constantly remind the Districts that they are at their mercy and that the Capitol can take everything away from them at any time. Every year, 2 teenagers from each district are selected to compete in the Hunger Games, a bloody spectacle for the capitol population to watch for leisure, where 24 young people will fight to the death amongst themselves. When Katniss' younger sister is selected, she volunteers as tribute to replace her and her journey towards what may be her death begins. In a game in which we fear for our protagonist's life at the hands of other teenagers, we realise that they are all just pawns in the hands of the evil President Snow and that all the tributes are victims of a regime.

๐Ÿงช The Selection by Kiera Cass - The Selection is the first book in what was originally a trilogy (and in our minds it will remain so). Our protagonist is America Singer, a young woman who lives in Illรฉa, a nation where the population has been divided into castes. The Ones are the royalty and in total we have Eight castes, each successively poorer and less powerful than the last. But there are ways to change caste, including the Selection, a competition in which the young women of Illรฉa can take part and where 35 candidates will be selected to live in the palace and compete for Prince Maxon's heart. America is the right age to apply and, persuaded by her mother and boyfriend, she does so. She just didn't expect to be chosen and capture the prince's attention so quickly.

๐Ÿงช The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey - in the first book of this trilogy, Earth is invaded by aliens. A ship appears and doesn't make contact with humans initially, but strange things begin to occur: electromagnetic waves, tsunamis, diseases... In total, 4 waves have drastically reduced the population and everyone is waiting for the dreaded 5th wave that will eradicate the remaining survivors. In this terrifying story, we follow several teenagers, including Cassie, a girl who is doing everything she can to find her younger brother who has been taken to safety by the army.

๐Ÿงช The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - this is the first book in a trilogy (there is a fourth book that follows one of the characters, but it's optional if you read it, because the trilogy has a conclusion). Ruby is only 10 years old when her parents lock her in the garage and call the police because they don't recognise her. A disease has infected the children of the United States and Ruby is one of the survivors. But something strange happens to the survivors. The children begin to develop abilities such as superhuman intelligence, control of elements... All the discovered children are taken away to be taught how to control their new abilities, but some are more dangerous than others.

And these are our favourite books from this genre! What's your favourite dystopian book? Leave your recommendations and we'll see you next time! Bye! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Sรณ nรฃo esperava ser escolhida e captar as atenรงรตes do prรญncipe tรฃo rapidamente.

๐Ÿงช A 5ยช

As crianรงas comeรงam a desenvolver habilidades como inteligรชncia sobre-humana, controlo de elementos...

E sรฃo estes os nosso livro favoritos deste gรชnero literรกrio! Adeus! ๐Ÿฅฐ
