Over here, we’ve been rewatching Season 1 of Outlander and what an experience! We started this rewatch a few weeks ago and finally finished the last episode… which means we’re more than ready to dive into Outlander: Blood of My Blood! 👀
But of course… we couldn’t miss the chance to come here and talk to you about this season that won us over (all over again!) and highlight some of our favorites.
✨ About the story
For those who aren’t familiar, Outlander is based on the book series by Diana Gabaldon, and its first season premiered in 2014.
The story begins in 1945, with Claire Randall, a nurse who travels to Scotland with her husband, Frank. During a visit to a mysterious circle of standing stones, Claire is inexplicably transported back to 1743, a time marked by tension and conflict between the Scots and the English.
💭 Our thoughts
Rewatching this season felt like coming home… but with our hearts even less prepared this time 🥺
One of the things we love most about Outlander is how naturally it blends romance, history, drama, and even a touch of fantasy. Nothing feels forced, and everything flows beautifully, making the story incredibly engaging.
The relationship between Claire and Jamie continues to be one of the highlights. It’s intense, complex, and built over time, which makes it feel all more real. It’s not a perfect romance and it’s precisely in the flaws, the conflicts, and the difficult decisions that the story truly shines.
On top of that, the historical aspect is incredibly well done. You can really feel the weight of the time period, the dangers, the limitations... and that makes everything so much more immersive.

Episode 1 — Sassenach (a perfect opening that hooks you instantly)
Episode 7 — The Wedding (simply iconic 🥹)
Episode 16 — To Ransom a Man’s Soul (emotionally devastating)
👥 Best characters:
Claire Randall — strong, determined and incredibly human
Jamie Fraser — no explanation needed… 🫠
Murtagh — loyal, protective with an unexpected sense of humor
💛 Best moments:
Claire and Jamie’s wedding (of course!)
The journeys with the clan (you can really feel the sense of camaraderie among the MacKenzie clan men)
🥴 Least favorite moments
🎬 Hardest episodes to watch:
The final episodes (emotionally very heavy)
👥 Least favorite character:
Black Jack Randall (despicable… but brilliantly written 👀 and major credit to the incredible actor portraying him)

Everything involving Black Jack Randall
The most intense scenes at the end of the season (if you’ve seen it, you know…)
🫶 Final thoughts
This first season is still one of our favorites. It’s intense, emotional, and completely addictive. Even knowing what happens, we still feel everything all over again, and that says a lot about the quality of the story Diana Gabaldon created.

É aí que conhece Jamie Fraser… e tudo muda. A sua vida nunca mais vai ser a mesma!
Entre clãs, guerras e escolhas impossíveis, Claire vê-se presa entre dois mundos e dois amores, enquanto tenta sobreviver numa época que não é a sua.
💭 A nossa opinião
Rever esta temporada foi como voltar a casa… mas com o coração ainda menos preparado 🥺.
Uma das coisas que mais adoramos em Outlander é a forma como mistura romance, história, drama e até um toque de fantasia de forma tão natural. Nada parece forçado e tudo flui maravilhosamente, de forma a tornar a história apelativa.
A relação entre a Claire e o Jamie continua a ser um dos pontos altos. É intensa, complexa e construída com tempo, o que a torna ainda mais real. Não é um romance perfeito e é precisamente nas falhas, nos conflitos entre ambos e nas decisões difíceis que esta história ganha força.
Além disso, a componente histórica está incrivelmente bem trabalhada. Sentimos realmente o peso da época, os perigos, as limitações… e isso torna tudo muito mais imersivo.

Esta primeira temporada continua a ser uma das nossas favoritas. É intensa, emocional e completamente viciante. Mesmo sabendo o que vai acontecer, conseguimos sentir tudo outra vez e isso diz muito sobre a qualidade da história que a Diana Gabaldon criou.
