How are we already halfway through the year? Honestly, it feels like January was yesterday and yet we've somehow managed to collect new fictional obsessions, emotional damage, unforgettable characters and a TBR that continues to grow faster than we can read 🤭.
Since we're officially at the halfway point of the year, we thought it would be fun to take part in the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag and look back at the books that have defined our reading journey so far.
Let's get started!
Best book you've read so far?
This one completely stole our hearts. We loved Throne of Glass, but Crown of Midnight raised the stakes in every possible way. The emotional moments, the character development, the reveals and the ending left us desperate to continue the series.
Best sequel?
Is this book determined to win every category? 🤔 We genuinely found it so much better than the first book and it made us even more invested in Celaena's journey.
New release you haven't read yet but want to?
After falling completely in love with Every Summer After, we're very excited to pick up another Carley Fortune novel.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Do we know much about it? Not really.
Will we read it as soon as possible? Absolutely!!!
Biggest disappointment?
Somehow we've been incredibly lucky with our reading choices this year and haven't picked up a single book that truly disappointed us.
We're probably jinxing ourselves by saying that.
Biggest surprise?
We enjoyed it far more than we expected. The friendship, the humour, the chemistry and the emotional moments completely won us over.
Favourite new author?
Elle Kennedy and Emily Henry. Both authors were completely new to us this year and both quickly became favourites.
Emily Henry gave us one of our favourite reads, while Elle Kennedy introduced us to a group of hockey players that we may or may not be slightly obsessed with.
Newest fictional crush?
How could we not, right?
Newest favourite character?
We're refusing to pick just one. Garrett, Dean, Logan and Tucker have all earned a special place in our hearts.
A book that made you cry?
This book felt like nostalgia wrapped in pages. It completely broke our hearts and then carefully put them back together again.
A book that made you happy?
Fun, addictive, romantic and impossible to put down. Exactly the kind of book that reminds us why we love reading.
Most beautiful book cover?
We are absolutely obsessed with this cover.
What books are you prioritising before the end of the year?
All three have been sitting on our TBR for far too long and we're determined to finally read them before the year ends.
Looking back, the first half of 2026 has been filled with incredible books, unforgettable characters and more emotional damage than we'd like to admit.
We're excited to see what the second half of the year has in store and whether any upcoming reads will manage to steal Crown of Midnight's crown.

Como é que já estamos a meio do ano? Honestamente, parece que janeiro foi ontem e, no entanto, já acumulámos novas obsessões literárias, danos emocionais consideráveis, personagens inesquecíveis e uma TBR que continua a crescer muito mais depressa do que conseguimos ler 🤭.

Melhor livro que leram até agora?
Este livro roubou-nos completamente o coração. Gostámos muito de Trono de Vidro, mas Coroa da Meia-Noite elevou tudo a outro nível. Os momentos emocionais, o desenvolvimento das personagens, as revelações e aquele final deixaram-nos desesperados por continuar a saga.
Melhor continuação?
Este livro está determinado a ganhar todas as categorias? 🤔 Sinceramente, achámos que foi significativamente melhor do que o primeiro e fez-nos ficar ainda mais investidos na jornada da Celaena.
Lançamento que ainda não leram mas querem muito ler?
Depois de nos apaixonarmos completamente por Cada Verão Passado, estamos muito entusiasmados por pegar noutro livro da Carley Fortune.
Lançamento mais aguardado para a segunda metade do ano?
Sabemos grande coisa sobre o livro? Nem por isso.
Vamos lê-lo logo que seja possível? Absolutamente!!!
Maior desilusão?
Surpreendentemente, tivemos imensa sorte com as nossas leituras este ano e ainda não encontramos nenhum livro que nos tenha desiludido verdadeiramente.
Provavelmente acabámos de dar azar a nós próprios ao dizer isto.
Maior surpresa?
Gostámos deste livro muito mais do que estávamos à espera. A amizade, o humor, a química entre as personagens e os momentos emocionais conquistaram-nos completamente.
Autor novo favorito?
Emily Henry e Elle Kennedy. Ambas eram completamente novas para nós este ano e rapidamente se tornaram favoritas.
A Emily Henry deu-nos uma das nossas leituras favoritas do ano, enquanto a Elle Kennedy nos apresentou um grupo de jogadores de hóquei pelo qual podemos ou não estar ligeiramente obcecados.

Os três estão na nossa TBR há tempo demais e estamos determinados a finalmente lê-los antes do final do ano.
Ao olhar para trás, a primeira metade de 2026 tem sido recheada de livros incríveis, personagens inesquecíveis e muito mais dano emocional do que gostaríamos de admitir. 😭📚
Estamos muito curiosos para descobrir o que a segunda metade do ano nos reserva e se alguma leitura conseguirá roubar a coroa de Coroa da Meia-Noite.
