August Wrap Up: When our TBR had other plans

August was supposed to be a productive reading month.

We had plans. Ambitious plans, actually. We had books we wanted to finish, books we wanted to start, and a very optimistic idea that we could somehow keep up with all of them.

Spoiler alert: we couldn’t! 😅

But honestly? When was life made about sticking perfectly to a list?

At the beginning of the month, we wanted to finish the books we were already reading and we actually managed to do just that throughout the month.

Then, because apparently we don’t  know how to follow our own TBRs, we added another book to the mix: The Last Sunrise by Anna Todd. It wasn’t originally part of our August plan, but it had exactly the kind of summery atmosphere we were looking for during these last weeks of summer. Plus, we wanted to read the book to watch the movie that premiered last week. We finished the book, but haven’t seen the movie yet. But we’ll get there!

And that’s where the entire plan for August started to go down the drain. 😶

We also started The Mistake by Elle Kennedy, but we’re still very much at the beginning. So that one is officially coming with us into September.

As for the books we planned to start, but never got around to?

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, Beach Read by Emily Henry and Off to the Races by Elsie Silver are still waiting patiently on our shelves.

And you know what? That 's okay!

A TBR is not a strict schedule, but more of a suggestion. Sometimes another book comes along at the right moment. Sometimes life gets busy. And sometimes you simply don’t feel like reading the book you thought you would.

So, our August numbers might not look exactly like the plan we started with, but we’re still pretty happy with what we read.

Agosto era suposto ser um mês de leituras produtivo.

Tínhamos planos. Planos ambiciosos, na verdade. Tínhamos livros que queríamos terminar, livros que queríamos começar e uma ideia bastante otimista de que, de alguma forma, conseguiríamos acompanhar tudo.

Spoiler alert: não conseguimos! 😅

Mas, sinceramente? Desde quando é que a vida passou a ser sobre cumprir uma lista à risca?

No início do mês, queríamos terminar os livros que já estávamos a ler e, na verdade, conseguimos fazer exatamente isso ao longo do mês.

Depois, porque aparentemente não sabemos seguir as nossas próprias TBRs, juntámos mais um livro à mistura: O Último Nascer do Sol, da Anna Todd. Não fazia originalmente parte dos nossos planos para agosto, mas tinha exatamente aquele ambiente de verão que procurávamos nestas últimas semanas da estação. Além disso, queríamos ler o livro para podermos ver o filme, que estreou na semana passada. Terminámos o livro, mas ainda não vimos o filme. Mas lá chegaremos!

E foi aí que todo o plano para agosto começou a descarrilar. 😶

Também começámos O Erro, da Elle Kennedy, mas ainda estamos muito no início. Por isso, esse vai oficialmente connosco para setembro.

E quanto aos livros que tínhamos planeado começar, mas que nunca chegámos a pegar?

Herdeira do Fogo, da Sarah J. Maas, Romance de Verão, da Emily Henry, e Off to the Races, da Elsie Silver, continuam pacientemente à nossa espera nas estantes.

E sabem que mais? Está tudo bem!

Uma TBR não é um calendário rígido, mas sim uma sugestão. Às vezes, aparece outro livro no momento certo. Às vezes, a vida fica mais ocupada. E, às vezes, simplesmente não nos apetece ler o livro que tínhamos pensado ler.

Por isso, os nossos números de agosto podem não ser exatamente aquilo que tínhamos planeado no início do mês, mas continuamos bastante felizes com aquilo que conseguimos ler.
