Movie Review: Death on the Nile ⭐⭐⭐/5

Hello there! 🤗 As we promised, we bring you our review on the movie Death on the Nile 🚢💀. Yesterday we left the theater past midnight, so no way we could process our thoughts after a long day of work and write something 😅💁🏻‍♀️. Specially, a movie review, something we never did...😶👉🏻👈🏻 so stick with us and give us your opinion on what we might improve or even have missed.

Let us begin then! 😌💪🏻

First of all, we have only watched the movie once, so there might be some details we have missed 🤷🏻‍♀️💁🏻‍♀️😅.

So Death on the Nile 🚢 by Kenneth Branagh is a direct sequel to Murder on the Orient Express 🚂. We see once again Kenneth Branagh return as the legendary detective Hercule Poirot 🔎. Even though David Suchet will always be top tier Poirot 👌🏻(at least for us, personally), Kenneth Branagh brings his energy and his (we may say) arrogance to a new level, adding a new and interesting perspective of this beloved character 😌.

Besides Branagh, the cast has some really impressive names, among them: Gal Gadot, Leslie Rose, Letitia Wright, Tom Bateman and Ali Fazal, just to quote a few. Since we have watched Murder on the Orient Express 🚂, we were pretty curious to check this movie. As you may know, we have read the book a couple of days ago and even watched (or rewatched, on my case 🤭) the tv show episode a few days ago. If you haven't done any of these two, we highly recommend for you to do it! ☝🏼😌

Now back to the movie 🎬. The story follows Poirot on a trip to Egypt 🏜️🌡️, where during a boat trip 🚢, a murder occurs 💀. With the suspicion being placed in several people, everyone seems to have some sort of reason to be the killer and Poirot needs to find who it is before more bodies start to be added to the count.

The movie is vibrant and beautiful on a visual aspect, with the colors contrasting perfectly with the background of Egypt 😌👌🏻, offering a cinematographic experience 📽️ that will make your brain fall in love with the aesthetic 😍. The wardrobe department also did a terrific job, making the clothes fit the characters personality, but also refleting perfectly their mood in the moment of the scenes 😌😏. The soundtrack is also spot on and beautifully done 🎵👌🏼.

We must say that other than Branagh, Russell Brand's performance was remarkable 👏🏻. We ended up loving his character, even though he was a bit of a mix between several characters from the book and his arc completly changed. We just embraced the role and got quite surprised with his perfomance 👏🏻. Tom Bateman was also one of our favourites and his scenes with Annette Bening were some of the best! 😌👌🏼👏🏻. There was comedy and drama and we absolutely loved it! 🤩🥰

About the story itself, it's quite well paced at first, but we felt that the conclusion was rushed and failed to impress the viewer (we even heard the people behind us laughing about it 😅😂). If only the uncovering of the identity of the murder was a bit slower.... 🤔 we think we would have enjoyed it more 🤷🏻‍♂️💁🏻‍♂️. We also felt that the story was too changed from the book to the screen (André was quite frustrated about it and he quite showed it on the actual movie theather😅🤭) and we missed characters that could have made the story a bit more interesting 💁🏻‍♀️. Some of the book characters were combined in each of the movie characters, but we believe is not the same, because it can be a bit overwhelming 😕.

Overall, we think the movie deserves 3 out of 5 stars ⭐, since you can enjoy the murder mystery 💀, the beautiful scenarios 🏜️ and the way it was filmed 🎥, but we feel it lacks a bit of soul in some parts 😕🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️.

Olá! 🤗 Como prometemos, trazemos-vos a nossa crítica sobre o filme Morte no Nilo 🚢💀. Ontem saímos do cinema depois da meia-noite, por isso não conseguíamos processar os nossos pensamentos depois de um longo dia de trabalho e escrever algo 😅💁🏻‍♀️. Especialmente, uma crítica de cinema, algo que nunca fizemos...😶👉🏻👈🏻 por isso fiquem connosco e deem-nos a vossa opinião sobre o que poderíamos melhorar ou podemos ter perdido.

Comecemos então! 😌💪🏻

Em primeiro lugar, só vimos o filme uma vez, pelo que pode haver alguns detalhes que nos escaparam 🤷🏻‍♂️💁🏻‍♀️😅.

Portanto, Morte no Nilo 🚢 por Kenneth Branagh é uma sequela direta de Crime no Expresso do Oriente 🚂. Vemos mais uma vez Kenneth Branagh regressar como o lendário detective Hercule Poirot 🔎. Apesar de David Suchet ser sempre o melhor Poirot 👌🏻(pelo menos para nós, pessoalmente), Kenneth Branagh traz a energia e (podemos dizer) arrogância da personagem a um novo nível, acrescentando uma nova e interessante perspectiva desta amada personagem 😌.

Para além de Branagh, o elenco tem alguns nomes realmente impressionantes, entre eles: Gal Gadot, Leslie Rose, Letitia Wright, Tom Bateman e Ali Fazal, apenas para citar alguns. Desde que assistimos ao Crime no Expresso do Oriente 🚂, ficámos bastante curiosos para ver este filme. Como devem saber, lemos o livro há uns dias atrás e até vimos (ou revimos, no meu caso 🤭) o episódio da série televisiva há alguns dias. Se ainda não fizeram nenhum destes dois, recomendamos-vos vivamente que o façam! ☝🏼😌

Agora de volta ao filme 🎬. A história segue Poirot numa viagem ao Egipto 🏜️🌡️, onde durante uma viagem de barco 🚢, ocorre um assassinato 💀. Com os suspeitas a serem colocadas em várias pessoas, todos parecem ter algum tipo de razão para ser o assassino e Poirot precisa de encontrar quem é antes que mais corpos comecem a ser adicionados à contagem.

O filme é vibrante e bonito num aspecto visual, com as cores a contrastar perfeitamente com a paisagem do Egito 😌👌🏻, oferecendo uma experiência cinematográfica 📽️ que fará o vosso cérebro apaixonar-se pelo aspeto estético do filme😍. O departamento de guarda-roupa também fez um excelente trabalho, fazendo com que as roupas se adaptassem à personalidade das personagens, mas também refletindo perfeitamente o seu estado de espírito no momento da cena 😌😏. A banda sonora também é perfeita e está muito bem concebida 🎵👌🏼.

Devemos dizer que para além de Branagh, o desempenho de Russell Brand foi notável 👏🏻. Acabámos por adorar a sua personagem, apesar de ter sido um pouco uma mistura entre várias personagens do livro e a sua história ser completamente alterada. Acabámos por abraçar o papel e ficámos bastante surpreendidos com o seu desempenho 👏🏻. Tom Bateman era também um dos nossos favoritos e as suas cenas com Annette Bening foram das melhores! 😌👌🏼👏🏻. Houve comédia e drama e nós adorámos! 🤩🥰

Sobre a história em si, no início está bastante interessante, mas sentimos que a conclusão foi precipitada e não conseguiu impressionar o espectador (até ouvimos as pessoas atrás de nós a rir-se 😅😂). Se ao menos a descoberta da identidade do assassino fosse um pouco mais demorada.... 🤔 pensamos que teríamos gostado mais 🤷🏻‍♂️💁🏻‍♀️. Também sentimos que a história foi demasiado alterada do livro para o ecrã (o André ficou um pouco frustrado com isso e mostrou isso no cinema😅🤭) e sentimos falta de personagens que poderiam ter tornado a história um pouco mais interessante 💁🏻‍♀️. Algumas das personagens do livro foram combinadas nas personagens do filme , mas nós acreditamos que não resulta da mesma forma e pode tornar-se demasiado para processar 😕.

No geral, pensamos que o filme merece 3 de 5 estrelas ⭐, uma vez que se pode apreciar o mistério do assassinato 💀, os belos cenários 🏜️🎬 e a forma como foi filmado 🎥, mas sentimos que lhe falta um pouco de alma em algumas partes 😕🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️.
