Movie Review: Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/6

Hello guys, how have you been? We hope you are great 🤗. Well, two weeks ago, we went to check the latest instalement of the Fantastic Beasts Series 🪄👾. As you may know, the series is set long before the Harry Potter ⚡events occur. As Harry Potter fans the expansion of this world that we grew up with and love is always interesting and welcomed, particularly when we end up recognizing familiar places and elements 😊.

On that note, The Secrets of Dumbledore turned out to be a breath of fresh air 🌬️🍃.

The movie jumps quite quickly into action, when we check what Newt is up to in an unfamiliar place. We are introduced to the Qilin 🥺, a powerful and respected magical creature, giving birth. After a few adorable minutes, Newt and the creature are attacked by none other that Grinderwald's followers. Despite his best efforts to protect the baby, it is taken by Credence.

Having lost hope, Newt lays next to the dying mother until he notices that a second baby is there 🥺✨. The creature gave birth to twins. The newborn has a couple of seconds with his mother until she finally perishes to the curse 😔.

This takes us to a bit of an inaccuracy 🤔. The spell used was non verbal, but the light was green ❇️. All great indications of the killing curse avada kedavra. The problem here is that we know that the killing curse is immediate on its acting. However is hit by it, dies instantly. Their might be later an explanation to this 💁🏻‍♂️🤔. Maybe it was not avada kedavra after all? Or maybe the creature has a different type of skin than can protect it or slow down effects like dragons 🐲 or even Hagrid who was an half giant 🌂.

The story moves then to Jacob Kowalski, who has we know, was left on a sad note with Quennie taking Grinderwald's side after being seducted by his words in Paris.

Jacob is back at his backery, where for a moment we see him allucinatting about Quennie.

This is momentarily interrupted to introduce us to a new character, Lally Hicks. Lally is a professor at Ilvermorny Academy and is trying to convince Jacob to join her on a quest along with others to go against Grinderwald. Relutant, Jacob accepts and it is taken by her. This kind of confused us too in a way, since she uses a book as a Portkey, but it's like she is Apparating only for them to show up in a train, seemingly coming out of a Floo Powder trip ✨🔥.

This train journey 🚂 is one of the most interessanting points and one that leaves no room for doubts in what comes to Tina's presence in the main story. We were not quite sure if these were 100% truth, but Tina's presence was suppose to be minimal based on the trailer we have seen and so it was. In a scene that comes to be the planning to take down Grinderwald, Tina is said to have been made Head of the Auror Departmant and not available to join the gang.

From now on, we will keep most of the plot hidden in order not to spoil some of the most important details that may influence how much you would enjoy the movie 🤗🤫.

Even though getting to see Hogwarts and Hogsmeade (🥰😍) was very important for us as fans, the introduction of new places like the German Ministry of Magic, Erkstag (with a terryfing Manticore in its grounds), The Eyrie in Bhutan, among others, was a very impactful experience and it just brought to the big screen something that made this world seem highly complex and diverse. We must say that Bhutan takes a bit of a crown as a more disapointing development, since it is build to be something amazing, mystical and powerful and there was no development of the place that allowed us to understand all of that 😕🤷🏻‍♂️. Perharps the screenplay will add more details...

This movie also raised some questions about Jacob. How can he see Hogwarts? Why does he not see ruins as the enchantments around the castle were supposed to make him see? And how can he be inside the castle so easily? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well, these are just a few of our opinions and some questions 😅💁🏻‍♂️. There are a lot more that we could discuss, but this review is already quite extensive for what we usually do and we hope you won't find it too boring to read until the end 😶. Let us know your oppinion on the movie in the comments 🤗. What was your favourite moment? Olá pessoal, como estão? Esperamos que se encontrem bem 🤗. Bem, à duas semanas fomos ver o mais recente filme da série Monstros Fantásticos 🪄👾. Como devem saber, a saga é definida muito antes dos eventos da saga Harry Potter ⚡. Como fãs de Harry Potter, a expansão deste mundo com que crescemos e adoramos é sempre interessante e bem-vinda, particularmente quando acabamos por reconhecer lugares e elementos familiares 😊.

A este respeito, Os Segredos de Dumbledore revelou-se como uma lufada de ar fresco 🌬️🍃.

O filme passa muito rapidamente para a ação, quando nos deparamos com o Newt num lugar desconhecido. Somos apresentados ao Qilin 🥺, uma criatura mágica poderosa e respeitada, que se encontra a dar à luz. Após alguns minutos adoráveis, Newt e a criatura são atacados pelos seguidores do Grinderwald. Apesar dos seus melhores esforços para proteger a cria, ele é levado pelo Credence.

Tendo perdido a esperança, Newt deita-se ao lado da mãe moribunda até notar que um segundo bebé está lá 🥺✨. A criatura deu à luz gémeos. O recém-nascido tem alguns segundos com a sua mãe até que esta finalmente sucumbe à maldição 😔.

Isto leva-nos a uma pequena incoerência 🤔. O feitiço utilizado não era verbal, mas a luz era verde ❇️. Todas as indicações da maldição mortal avada kedavra. O problema aqui é que sabemos que a maldição da morte é imediata na sua atuação. Quando se é atingido por ela, morre-se instantaneamente. Poderá haver mais tarde uma explicação para isto 💁🏻‍♂️🤔. Talvez afinal não tenha sido o avada kedavra? Ou talvez a criatura tenha um tipo de pele diferente que a pode proteger ou retardar efeitos como dragões 🐲 ou mesmo o Hagrid 🌂 que era meio gigante.

A história passa então para o Jacob Kowalski, que tal como sabemos, ficou numa situação infeliz após a Quennie ter tomado o partido do Grinderwald depois de ter sido seduzida pelas suas palavras em Paris.

O Jacob está de volta à sua pastelaria, onde por um momento o vemos a alucinar com a Quennie.

Isto é momentaneamente interrompido para nos apresentar uma nova personagem, Lally Hicks. Lally é professora na Academia Ilvermorny e está a tentar convencer o Jacob a juntar-se a ela numa demanda juntamente com outros para derrotarem o Grinderwald. Relutante, o Jacob aceita e é levado por ela. Isto também nos confunde de certa forma, uma vez que ela usa um livro como botão de transporte, mas é como se tivesse usado um feitiço de Aparição, apenas para eles aparecerem num comboio, aparentemente saídos de uma viagem de Pó de Floo ✨🔥.

Esta viagem de comboio 🚂 é um dos pontos mais interessantes e que não deixa margem para dúvidas no que se refere à presença da Tina na história principal. Não tínhamos bem a certeza se estes eram 100% verdadeiros, mas a presença da Tina era suposta ser mínima com base no trailer que vimos e assim foi. Numa cena que vem a ser o planeamento para derrubar o Grinderwald, comentam que a Tina foi nomeada Chefe do Departamento de Aurores e não está disponível para se juntar ao bando.

A partir de agora, iremos manter a maior parte da história em segredo para não estragar alguns dos detalhes mais importantes que possam influenciar o quanto apreciam o filme 🤗🤫.

Apesar de ter sido muito importante para nós como fãs ver Hogwarts e Hogsmeade (🥰😍), a introdução de novos locais como o Ministério da Magia Alemão, Erkstag (com uma arrepiante Manticora no seu recinto), o Eyrie no Butão, entre outros, foi uma experiência muito impactante e apenas trouxe para o grande ecrã algo que fez este mundo parecer altamente complexo e diversificado. Devemos dizer que o Butão leva a coroa como o local mais dececionante, uma vez que é construído para ser algo espantoso, místico e poderoso e não houve desenvolvimento do lugar que nos tenha permitido compreender tudo isso 😕🤷🏻‍♂️. Talvez o guião acrescente mais detalhes...

Este filme também levantou algumas questões sobre o Jacob. Como é que ele consegue ver Hogwarts? Porque não vê ele as ruínas como seria suposto devido aos encantamentos à volta do castelo? E como pode estar ele dentro do castelo tão facilmente? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bem, estas são apenas algumas das nossas opiniões e perguntas 😅💁🏻‍♂️.
