Book Review: Blood Promise ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/6

Hey everyone! 🤗 How have you been? We are currently on vacation and enjoying some peace and quite for the last couple of weeks 😌😌😌. That is why we have not been very active lately 😶🤭. We have been delaying posting our Blood Promise review for quite a while, but now here it is, our opinion on the fourth book of the Vampire Academy Series. Don't forget, there are spoilers in this review! 🤐🤫 

After leaving the Academy 🏫, Rose travels to Russia in the hopes of chasing and killing Dimitri, to release his soul. Leaving a trail of Strigoi bodies behind, Rose attracts the attention of Sydney 👱🏻‍♀️, an Alchemist, humans 👨🏻👩🏼 in contact with the vampire world 🧛🏻🧛🏻‍♀️ that help to conceal their secret while making damage control after the Dhampir kills 🗡️.

After a few dangerous occurences, Rose finds herself in the small town of Baia, right at Dimitri's family house 🏠. Later, she also meets a Moroi named Abe 🧑🏽‍💼, who is being very insisting on sending her back to the USA, and a shadow-kissed couple, Mark and Oksana.

With Dimitri's family being oblivious to what happened to him, Rose takes it upon herself to inform them of Dimitri's transformation. The family mourns him and Rose finds herself in the middle of the family that welcomes her with open arms for as long as she wishes.

In the meanwhile, Adrian keeps on visiting Rose in her dreams and although she lies and says she no longer checks on Lissa, she cannot help but to get into her mind once in a while. Lissa feels lonely since her break up with Christian and Rose's departure, but a new Headmaster brings his daughter that becomes very close to Lissa very quickly. This upsets Rose a bit but she reminds herself that Lissa and the Academy  🏫 are no longer part of her life (😶).

Not longer after, Dimitri's sister gets in trouble with a Moroi boy and the only person able to help is Abe and his dhampir body guards. In exchange, he tells Rose, that she must leave Russia for good and go back to the Academy  🏫.

Instead of listening to Abe, Rose finds an unpromised group of Dhampirs and sets off with them to Novosibirsk, hoping to capture and kill Dimitri 🗡️. Unfortunately, Dimitri hears about this and finds her, taking her to a room from where she can't get out. Rose feels confused as she was expecting to have been killed, but Dimitri tells her that he will not kill her. He will turn her into a Strigoi in order to kill the present leader of his pack 😶.

As weeks go by, Rose begins to realize that the man in front of her may look like Dimitri, but he isn't him. She escapes and the final battle between the two takes place at a bridge where Rose stabs Dimitri through the heart, watching him fall to his death 😔.

Now safe with Oksana, Mark and Abe, Rose is desperate to help Lissa, who is currently under Avery's compulsion and being persuaded to jump of a window. Thanks to Oksana's Spirit magic, Rose manages to comunicate with Lissa through her mind and guide her in a fist to fist fight 👊🏻. Adrian comes to help and Avery ends up defeated and fried due to extreme use of Spirit magic. Rose thanks the shadow kissed pair all of their help and learns about some myth remarking a man as being able to heal Strigoi. She feels a bit shocked and sad, since Dimitri is already gone, but she choses to ignore this idea.

Rose goes back to the USA where she learns that Abe is her biological dad 😅😂🤭. She has now come to terms with Dimitri's death and is ready to go back to her friends and to give Adrian a shot 😏🤭.

At the end of the book, she receives a letter from Dimitri. He survived her staking and is now ready to hunt her and kill her 😈, giving Rose two choice: finish him once and for all or believe in a legend that says a Strigoi can be brought back 😬.

The VA Series keeps up with an interesting plot and compeling characters in this 4th book, with the story lifting more and more the veil that conceals the secrets of the spirit and the danger and hope it can equally represent ✨. The romance became more complex, with break ups and moving on after a relationship playing a part in our main girls' lives 😌.

The increasing presence of mother figures in Rose's life is also very interesting, as it shows the complexity of the Dhampir world and the choices that women must make between a guardian life or a stay home life that can come with a bad reputation 😕.

This book receives from us a 5.5⭐. The expectations are very high for the last two books in the series, so keep an eye and expect to hear from us on the next review 😉🤗.

Olá a todos! 🤗 Como têm estado? Nós estamos de férias e a apreciar alguma paz e sossego nestas últimas semanas 😌😌😌. É por este motivo que não temos sido muito ativos ultimamente 😶🤭. Temos andado a adiar publicar a nossa review do Blood Promisse à já algum tempo, mas agora já cá está, a do quarto livro da saga Vampire Academy. Não se esqueçam de que há spoilers nesta review! 🤐🤫

Depois de abandonar a Academia 🏫, a Rose viaja para a Rússia na esperança de caçar e matar o Dimitri, de forma a libertar a sua alma . Uma vez que tem deixado um rasto de cadáveres de Strigoi, ela atrai a atenção da Sydney 👱🏻‍♀️, uma Alquimista, parte de um grupo de humanos 👨🏻👱🏼‍♀️ em contacto com o mundo vampiro 🧛🏻🧛🏻‍♀️, que ajuda a escondê-lo e a controlar os danos após as mortes realizadas por Dhampirs 🗡️.

Após algumas situações perigosas, a Rose dá por si na pequena cidade de Baia, mais precisamente em casa da família do Dimitri. Mais tarde, também conhece um Moroi chamado Abe 🧑🏽‍💼, que é muito insistente em enviá-la de volta para os EUA, e um casal "beijado pelas sombras", o Mark e a Oksana.

Com a família do Dimitri completamente alheia ao que aconteceu, a Rose assume o fardo de lhes contar sobre a transformação do Dimitri. A família faz o luto e a Rose dá por si no meio de uma família que a recebe de braços abertos por tanto tempo quanto ela queira.

Durante todo este tempo, o Adrian continua a visitar a Rose nos seus sonhos e ainda que ela minta e diga que já não entra na mente da Lissa, ela não consegue evitar fazê-lo de vez em quando. Já a Lissa sente-se sozinha desde o fim da sua relação com Christian e a fuga da Rose, mas um novo diretor traz a sua filha que se torna muito próxima dela rapidamente. Isto chateia um bocado a Rose, mas ela relembra-se que a Lissa e a Academia  🏫 já não fazem parte da vida dela (🙁).

Não muito depois, a irmã do Dimitri arranja problemas com um rapaz Moroi e a única pessoa capaz de ajudar é o Abe e os seus guarda-costas Dhampir. Em troca, ele diz à Rose que ela tem de sair da Rússia para sempre e voltar para a Academia  🏫.

Em vez de lhe dar ouvidos, a Rose encontra um grupo de Dhampirs descomprometidos e parte com eles para Novosibirsk, com a esperança de capturar e matar o Dimitri 🗡️. Infelizmente, o Dimitri fica a saber disto e encontra-a, levando-a para um quarto de onde ela não consegue sair. A Rose fica confusa já que esperava ter sido morta, mas o Dimitri diz-lhe que ele não a vai matar. Ele irá transformá-la em Strigoi de forma a matar a atual líder do seu grupo 😶.

À medida que as semanas vão passando, a Rose começa a apercebe-se que o homem que tem à frente pode parecer o Dimitri, mas não é ele. Ela escapa e a batalha final entre os dois dá-se numa ponte onde a Rose apunhala o Dimitri no coração, enquanto o vê cair para a sua morte 😔.

Agora a salvo com a Oksana, o Mark e o Abe, a Rose está desesperada para ajudar a Lissa, que está naquele momento sob a compulsão da Avery e a ser persuadida a saltar de uma janela. Graças à magia do espírito da Oksana, a Rose consegue comunicar com a Lissa através da mente dela e guiá-la num combate corpo a corpo 👊🏻. O Adrian aparece para ajudar e a Avery acaba derrotada e louca devido ao uso excessivo da magia do espírito. A Rose agradece ao casal "beijado pelas sombras" toda a sua ajuda e fica a saber sobre um lenda acerca de um homem capaz de curar Strigoi. Ela fica um pouco chocada e triste, visto o Dimitri já estar morto, mas escolhe ignorar a ideia.

A Rose volta para os EUA onde descobre que o Abe é o seu pai biológico 😅😂🤭. Ela aceitou a morte do Dimitri e está pronta para voltar para os amigos e dar uma hipótese ao Adrian 😏🤭.

No fim do livro, ela recebe uma carta do Dimitri. Ele sobreviveu e está pronto para a perseguir e matar 😈, dando duas escolhas à Rose: ou ela o mata de uma vez por todas ou acredita numa lenda que diz ser possível trazer de volta um Strigoi 😬.

A saga VA mantém um enredo interessante e personagens apelativas neste 4º livro, com a história a levantar cada vez mais o véu que esconde os segredos da magia do espírito e o perigo e esperança que ela também representa ✨. O romance torna-se mais complexo, com separações e o seguir em frente após uma relação a desempenharem um papel na vidas das nossas protagonistas 😌.

O aumento da presença de figuras maternais na vida da Rose também é algo muito interessante, já que mostra a complexidade do mundo Dhampir e as escolhas que as mulheres têm de fazer entre uma vida de guardiã ou uma de ficar em casa que traz consigo má reputação 😕.

Este livro recebe de nós 5.5⭐. As expectativas são muito altas para os restantes dois livros da saga, por isso mantenham-se atentos e esperem ouvir de nós na próxima review 😉🤗.
