🌷 Books, movies and tv shows we love for spring 🌷

    Hello dear followers! Enjoying the last days of winter? ❄️ Or are you already getting ready for spring? 🌺 Around here we're already in the mix phase, but as the longing for warmer days grows stronger, we're already starting to get ready to welcome the new season.

    To help you get into the spirit, we've put together a list of books, movies and tv shows that we think are incredible for this season. Whether it's the romance or the marvellous scenery, any one of them has the power to make you feel like you're in the middle of an enchanted springtime scene.

🌷 Books:

        🌸 The Selection by Kiera Cass - in the nation of Illéa, the Selection is taking place. 35 girls will be selected from the country's castes and taken to the palace to compete for the heart of the prince, Maxon Schreave. Our protagonist, America, didn't want to apply, but at the request of her mother and her boyfriend, with the prospect of changing her life, she gives in and sends in her application. The next thing she knows, she's at the palace and meets Maxon. America has no intention of competing with the other girls, but she and Maxon become friends. The conditions? He keeps her in the competition for as long as possible without choosing her, so that her family continues to receive support for her participation, and in return, America helps Maxon to understand the character and personality of each of the girls, so that he can choose a young woman to become his wife and princess of Illéa.

        🌸 Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Spring is synonymous with romance and what city could be more romantic than Paris? For Anna, Paris means being abandoned by her father in an unknown school, surrounded by people whose language she doesn't understand. Luckily for her, she soon meets Meredith, a nice girl who makes her feel more welcome and who promptly introduces her to her group of friends, including Étienne St. Clair. The crush is almost immediate and the two spend a lot of time together due to problems with their families. There's just one problem. St. Clair has a girlfriend and Anna has an old crush she was hoping to get back together with. What will happen to the two in the city of love?

🌷 Movies:

        🌸 Cinderella (2015) - you can't help but love the beauty of this live action version of one of the most beloved fairy tales ever! In this new version, we get to see the happy childhood that turned Ella into the gentle and kind person she later proves to be with her half-sisters and stepmother. The prince also takes on a different prominence in this film and his interest in Ella begins long before the famous ball and the iconic moment when she loses her crystal slipper. The whole production is stunning! From the beauty of the sets to the incredible work done by the wardrobe department, the fairytale fantasy becomes real right in front of our eyes and makes us believe that anything is possible.

On an extra note, the cast is fantastic, with Lily James and Cate Blanchett standing out for their magnificent performances as Ella and Lady Tremaine.

        🌸 Miss Potter - Beatrix Potter is the well-known author of the stories of Peter Rabbit and many other animals. However, before she became a famous author, Beatrix was just considered by everyone to be an absent-minded bachelor and had only her drawings and stories for company and the dream of one day publishing them. A publisher decides to take on her project and despite giving her the partner with the least experience, Beatrix is overjoyed and can't wait to see her book printed and ready for distribution. With amusing moments in which Beatrix is seen interacting with her characters as they come to life on paper, this is the perfect film for all the family and will leave you with a sense of nostalgia for simpler times. 

        🌸 Tangled - in this Disney adaptation, Rapunzel is a girl who lives with her mum in a tower. Her mother always told her that the world was too dangerous and cruel and that she should never leave the tower, no matter what. With her mother gone, Rapunzel finds her normal routine interrupted by a young thief, Flynn, who is looking for a place to hide from the royal guard. Rapunzel sees him as her chance to fulfil a dream and forces Flynn to be her guide in the outside world. Flynn accepts on the condition that she gives him back what he has stolen.

        🌸 Sense and Sensibility - Elinor and Marianne are the protagonists of this adaptation of Jane Austen's novel. The two sisters are quite different, but both are pressured by their social status and the customs of the time to find suitors as quickly as possible. Their life in the countryside is characterised by a wide variety of men who show an interest in the sisters and try to express their feelings and present their requests. With a cast of beloved stars such as Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant, this wonderful film will enchant anyone.

🌷 TV shows:

        🌸 Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story - we couldn't help but share one of our favourites from the previous year! After watching both seasons of Bridgerton and being convinced that the second would always be our favourite in this universe, came the spin off with the story of Queen Charlotte and King George and we were completely hooked! The actors, the story, the timelines... Everything is absolutely marvellous and romantic and set against the most beautiful backdrop imaginable.

        🌸 Pride and Prejudice (1995) - of course we couldn't leave out the adaptation of Jane Austen's best-loved classic. As we were already big fans of the 2005 film adaptation, we had to satisfy our curiosity and watch one of the most acclaimed television adaptations of the book. Although the 2005 version is still one of our most beloved, this one is much more faithful to the book and we can't help but recognise that it's beautiful and captivating from the very first minute. It's so worth it!

    Olá queridos seguidores! A aproveitar os últimos dias de inverno? ❄️ Ou já estão a preparar-se para a primavera? 🌺 Por aqui já estamos naquela fase de mix, mas como as saudades de dias mais quentes apertam, já começamos a preparar-nos para receber a nova estação.

    Para ajudar a entrar no espírito, resolvemos fazer uma listinha de livros, filmes e séries, que na nossa opinião são incríveis para esta estação do ano. Seja pelo romantismo ou pelo cenário maravilhoso, qualquer um deles, tem o poder de nos fazer sentir no meio de um cenário encantado e primaveril. 

🌷 Livros:

        🌸 A Seleção da Kiera Cass - na nação de Illéa, vai ser realizada a Seleção. 35 raparigas serão selecionadas de entre as castas do país e levadas para o palácio para disputar o coração do príncipe, Maxon Schreave. A nossa protagonista, America, não se queria inscrever, mas a pedido da sua mãe e do seu namorado, na perspetiva de que ela mude de vida, ela cede e envia a candidatura. Quando dá por si, está no palácio e conhece Maxon. America não tem qualquer intenção de competir com as outras jovens, porém, ela e Maxon tornam-se amigos. As condições? Ele mantém-na na competição pelo máximo de tempo possível sem a escolher, para que a família dela continue a receber os apoios pela sua participação e em troca, America ajuda Maxon a perceber o caráter e a personalidade de cada uma das jovens, para que ele possa escolher uma jovem que se torne sua esposa e princesa de Illéa.

        

       🌸 Anna e o Beijo Francês* da Stephanie Perkins - primavera é sinónimo de romance e haverá cidade mais romântica que Paris? Para Anna, Paris é sinónimo de ser abandonada pelo pai numa escola desconhecida, rodeada de pessoas cuja a língua ela não entende. Para sorte dela, conhece logo Meredith, uma rapariga simpática que a faz sentir mais acolhida e que prontamente a apresenta ao seu grupo de amigos, entre eles, Étienne St. Clair. A paixoneta é quase imediata e os dois passam muito tempo juntos devido a problemas com as respetivas famílias. Só há um problema.         🌸 Cinderela (2015) - não há como não adorar a beleza deste live action de um dos contos de fadas mais adorados de sempre! Nesta nova versão, conseguimos ver a infância feliz que tornou Ella a pessoa gentil e bondosa que ela demonstra ser mais tarde com as suas meias irmãs e a sua madrasta. O príncipe também assume um destaque diferente neste filme e o interesse dele pela Ella começa muito antes do famosos baile e do icónico momento em que ela perde o sapatinho de cristal. Toda a produção é espantosa! Desde a beleza dos cenários, ao incrível trabalho que o departamento de guarda roupa fez, a fantasia do conto de fadas torna-se real mesmo à nossa frente faz-nos acreditar que tudo é possível. Numa nota extra, o elenco é fantástico com destaque para a Lily James e a Cate Blanchett, pelas magníficas performances nos papéis de Ella e Lady Tremaine.

        🌸 O Mundo Encantado de Beatrix Potter - Beatrix Potter é a conhecida autora das histórias de Peter Rabbit e de muitos outros animais. Porém, antes de se tornar uma autora famosa, Beatrix era apenas considerada com uma solteira distraída por todos e tinha apenas os seus desenhos e histórias como companhia e o sonho de um dia os publicar. Uma editora resolve aceitar o seu projeto e, apesar de lhe atribuir o sócio com menos experiência, Beatrix está felicíssima e mal pode esperar por ver o seu livro impresso e pronto para distribuir. Com momentos divertidos em que Beatrix é vista a interagir com as suas personagens quando estas se tornam vivas no papel, este é o filme perfeito para toda a família e vai deixar-nos com uma sensação de nostalgia por tempos mais simples.

        🌸 Entrelaçados - nesta adaptação feita pela Disney, Rapunzel é um rapariga que vive com a mãe numa torre. A mãe sempre lhe disse que o mundo era demasiado perigoso e cruel e que nunca deveria deixar a torra, seja em que circunstância for. Com a mãe ausente, Rapunzel dá por si a ter a sua rotina normal interrompida por um jovem ladrão, Flynn, que procura esconderijo da guarda real. Rapunzel vê nele a sua oportunidade concretizar um sonho e força Flynn a ser o seu guia no mundo exterior. Flynn aceita sob a condição de ela lhe devolver o que ele roubou.

        🌸 Sensibilidade e Bom Senso - Elinor e Marianne são as protagonistas desta adaptação da obra de Jane Austen. As duas irmãs são bastante diferentes, mas encontram-se ambas pressionadas pela sua condição social e pelos costumes do tempo a encontrar pretendentes o mais rapidamente possível. A sua vida no campo é pautada pelos mais variados homens que demonstram ter interesse nas irmãs e procura expressar os seus sentimentos e apresentar os seus pedidos. Com um elenco de estrelas adoradas como Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet e Hugh Grant, este maravilhoso filme vai encantar qualquer um de nós.

🌷 Séries:

        🌸 Rainha Charlotte: Uma história Bridgerton - não podíamos deixar de partilhar um dos nos preferidos do ano anterior! Depois de vermos ambas as temporadas de Bridgerton e convencidos que a segunda seria sempre a nossa preferida neste universo, chegou o spin-off com a história da Rainha Charlotte e do Rei George e ficamos completamente rendidos! Os atores, a história, as timelines... Tudo é absolutamente maravilhoso e romântico e inserido no cenário mais lindíssimo que se possa imaginar. 

        🌸 Orgulho e Preconceito (1995) - é claro que não podíamos deixar de fora a adaptação do mais adorado clássico de Jane Austen. Como já éramos grandes fãs da adaptação ao cinema de 2005, tivemos de saciar a curiosidade e ver uma das mais aclamadas adaptações do livro para a televisão. Apesar de a versão de 2005 ainda ser uma das nossas mais adoradas, esta é muito mais fiel ao livro e não podemos deixar de reconhecer que é lindíssima e cativante desde o primeiro minuto. Vale muito a pena!
