Summary
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a book of mystery and suspense, the first to be written by British author and journalist Stuart Turton. The action takes place in the secluded mansion of Blackheath, where a man, Aiden Bishop, wakes up every day in a different body, without knowing how, with the aim of discovering who killed the young Evelyn Hardcastle, the hostess of the most unusual party ever seen. The day repeats itself with a total of 8 hosts. Each host has a different degree of closeness to Evelyn, but each one is essential to gaining new information and lifting the veil that covers who is responsible for her death. Aiden receives his instructions from a man in disguise whom he doesn't trust, and he knows he must solve the case to escape Blackheath. A man known as 'the footman' is prepared to kill Aiden time and again to prevent him from learning the truth and interfering with the events...
Our opinion
The story has an atmosphere of intrigue, with many twists and surprises, as not everything is straightforward in our protagonist's day. The book is very well written and has an intriguing mystery that keeps the reader guessing until the end.
We really liked the list of guests and staff at the beginning of the book. It really helped us figure out who the main character's new hosts were and who he was interacting with, especially in the beginning. As far as we can tell, there are some English editions that also include a map of the house, but we couldn't find any in Portuguese with this addition 😕.
All in all, this will have been one of our best reads. The book is incredible and the author is to be congratulated for creating such a magnetic story that keeps us hooked and makes us want to solve the mystery with our protagonist. That's why the book gets 5/5🌟.

suspense, sendo a primeira obra escrita pelo autor e jornalista britânico, Stuart Turton. A trama desenrola-se
na mansão isolada de Blackheath, onde, sem perceber como, um homem, Aiden Bishop, acorda todos
os dias num corpo diferente, com o objetivo de descobrir quem matou a jovem Evelyn
Hardcastle, a anfitriã da festa mais invulgar alguma vez vista. O dia
repetir-se-á sucessivamente com um total de 8 hospedeiros. Cada hospedeiro tem graus de
proximidade diferentes com Evelyn, mas cada um deles é essencial para obter
novas informações e levantar o véu que encobre quem é responsável pela sua
morte. Aiden recebe as suas instruções de um homem disfaraçado em quem não confia e sabe que para escapar de Blackheath terá de resolver o caso. Um homem conhecido como o "lacaio" está disposto a matar Aiden uma e outra vez para o impedir de saber a verdade e de interferir com os acontecimentos...
A nossa opinião
A história apresenta uma atmosfera de intriga, com muitas
reviravoltas e surpresas, uma vez que nem tudo é linear no dia do nosso
protagonista. O livro é muito bem escrito e tem um enigma intrigante que mantém
o leitor preso até o final.
Gostamos imenso da lista de convidados e pessoal da casa no início do livro. Ajudou imenso a localizar quem eram os novos hospedeiros do personagem principal e com quem ele estava a interagir principalmente no começo. Pelo que percebemos, há alguma edições em inglês que apresentam também um mapa da casa, mas não encontramos nenhuma em português com essa adição 😕.
No geral, esta terá sido uma das nossas melhores leituras. O livro é incrível e o autor está mesmo de parabéns por ter criado uma história tão magnética que nos cativa e nos faz pensar numa tentativa de resolver o quebra cabeças com o nosso protagonista. Por isto o livro leva 5/5🌟.
